They can be very versatile: you can hear them playing jazz music, chamber orchestra, or you can see them performing with singers or with dancers. We are very happy to announce that the TUD Welcome Center, an institution of the DRESDEN-concept research alliance, is now joining the Santander Universities Germany network for the upcoming three years which allows not only to strenghen partnerships with more than thousand universities worldwide but also to enlarge some of our projects as well as our team. As we already announced in our last newsletter, we were approached by some of you asking if we could arrange swimming lessons. And here they are. Due to the limited time slots in Dresden indoor swimming pools, this course can only happen in the beginning of March, so this is a once–in-a-year opportunity for you! The course will be open for both gender and is designed for non-swimmers and by professional and experienced trainers, who usually work with internationals. DRESDEN-concept Science Slam *reloaded* It takes more than a torrential, apocalyptic thunderstorm to discourage the DRESDEN-concept scientists from slamming. 2 July at 6 p.m. the Open Air Science Slam *reloaded* will take place in the castle chapel of the Dresden Residence Castle (German: Dresdner Residenzschloss). The initial Science Slam on 23 May had to be aborted for security reasons due to severe weather over Dresden. Special invitation of TU Dresden Welcome Center and the School of Science For the second time, we will crew a boat in this year’s dragon boat cup with international people who will have an unforgettable challenge on the water.
