The SemperOperaball
– the most beautiful night of the year

In the end of January or the beginning of February every year, the Semper Opera turns into the setting of one of the most prestigious and important European ballroom events. Already from 1925 until 1939, the Semper Opera was host of such glorious events, even though back then, you could also hear Jazz being played – along with the traditional classic music and Waltz. After the war, there had been plans to re-establish the ball, however the huge demolitions and the government made the undertaking impossible. Since […]

Impressions of a Day Trip: Freiberg and Seiffen

Last week, a group of researchers met in the early hours of the morning for what would be a full day of tourism in Freiberg and Seiffen, two cities which are not too far from Dresden. Luckily, we barely noticed the bad weather outside, as we were amused by […]

We followed the invitation of Susanne Lutz who is head of for public relations and sponsoring of the “Dresdner Musikfestspiele”. We met at the 6th floor of the QF hotel and where surprised to be so close to the Frauenkirche dome! The reception included drinks and an introduction to this music festival in Dresden and the classic work we were going to experience. By chance Jan Vogler showed up. […]
