Thursday, 11 August 2016: The Zöllner 5 (Jazz concert)

Dirk Zöllner has been around for a long time in the German music community. He started off in the middle of the 1980s in Berlin. His music is influenced by the American Funk and Soul movement as well as by eastern German Ballads. He, as a person as well as his music, is unique and remarkable in its very own way. He can be seen as the godfather to an entire musical generation, always looking for new ways of expressions and still he doesn’t follow every new trend. Being on the road for more than 23 years, he brings not only great music but also lots of wisdom packed in his lyrics.

When, one day of 1929, writer Thomas Wolfe, decided to keep the appointment made by Max Perkins, editor at Scribner’s, he had no illusions: his manuscript would be turned down as had invariably been the case.
