Thursday, 02 February: Catch me if you can (musical)

This almost unbelievable true story is well known from the cinema screen. Now you get the chance to see this beautiful musical telling the story of a charming pilot, doctor, lawyer… A musical von Terrence McNally / Marc Shaiman / Scott Wittman. Certainly an experience to remember!

Friday, 03 February: The Snow Queen (theater)

For adults and children alike, this snowy theatrical piece makes more sense than ever, considering the amount of snow we can see outside the window this week. A story about princesses, ice castles and a lot of magic! Do not miss it.

Also on Friday, 03 February: The SemperaOpenAirBall (dancing and singing)

In January or at the beginning of February, the Semper Opera turns into the setting of one of the most prestigious and important European ballroom events – the SemperOperaball. And those who couldn’t get tickets, or didn’t want to spend a fortune on them, come to the festivities nevertheless: All interested Dresden dancing couples are invited to dance to the music transported from inside the Opera and enjoy the fireworks, special guests outside and more.

Saturday, 04 February: Forró Workshop in Dresden (dance workshop)

Forró is a Brazilian regional partner dance. The name comes from the English expression ‘for all’, which remembers that the rhythm is easy to learn and the dance is to be danced by everyone! The workshop will be led by Sebastian, a German Forró lover living in Berlin, who does not miss any opportunity to spread Forró across Germany. 90 minutes introductory course followed by a dance party. Come alone or with a partner!

Sunday, 05 February: Konzert des TU-Sinfonieorchesters (concert)

Have you already heard signs of an audition of the orchestra of the TU Dresden in the main lecture hall at the HSZ some random night and got curious to check in on their performance? Now you have this chance! Their presentation is a must-see for every student, researcher or employee of the university; despite the technical nature of our university, we can also do great pieces of arts!

Monday, 06 February: Montagscafé im Kleinen Haus (get-together , workshop and concert)

A day to experience among newcomers, insiders and curious people! Tuesday, 07 February: The American West (Jazz concert)

This award winning American musician is about to enchant your Tuesday night with his great pieces of jazz. This artist does not need further introduction, rather just take a look at his work in the link below and of course, take some time to experience his show live.

Wednesday, 08 February: Royal Opera House 2016/17: Woolf Works (McGregor) (classic Ballet live broadcasted)

This Wednesday night programme mixes the experience of a fancy ballet night with the comfort of enjoying a night at the cinema. Rundkino Dresden will be broadcasting the Royal Ballet performance live from London. Of course, the HD cinema screen along with the suround sound system promise to make the experience a truly intense one. Renowned choreographer Wayne McGregor choreographs the piece. The programme lasts two and a half hour, including two pauses and an introduction.

Also on Wednesday, 08 February: Peace Slam and “Dresden Refuge” (movie)

The evening starts with a Peace Slam where Stefan from Serbia, Caterin from Columbia and Siavash from Iran will slam about their personal understanding of peace (in English). Then the documentary DRESDEN REFUGE (2016, director Xuban Inxausti, 55 min, German with English subtitles) will be screened and you’re invited to join a discussion afterwards. After the film you can also connect with people active in welcoming networks, peace and community work.
