Friday, 20 November 2015: ‘Black Marrow’ by Iceland Dance Company

Ómarsdóttir and Jalet from the Iceland Dance Company consider ‘Black Marrow’ a contemporary ritual. With rhythm, repetition and exhaustion they aim to achieve archaic trance among their six dancers, in which they’ll mutate into creatures that are something between animal, machine and pagan idols in the dark.

Saturday, 21 November 2015: Russian Night – Melodies of Tchaikovsky’s ‘Nutcracker’

This marvellous concert will make you get into the right mood for the upcoming Christmas season. The Nutcracker Ballet is one of Tchaikovsky’s most enchanting works. The magical music evokes a nostalgic Christmas atmosphere. The two-act ballet is based on the book ‘The Nutcracker and the Mouse King’, by E.T.A. Hoffman, a famous writer and music critic.

Sunday, 22 November 2015: ‘Art and Language’ – Image Interpretations in English and French

Why not use this Sunday to gain insight into the ‘New Masters Gallery’ at Albertinum. Pupils of the Romain-Rolland-Gymnasium will make you familiar with the most fascinating paintings and their background stories. Meeting point for this tour is the atrium of Albertinum.

Monday, 23 November 2015: Weekly Gathering for Refugees, Internationals and Locals

The State Theatre of Dresden organizes a weekly so-called ‘Montagscafé’, which is meant to be a meeting place for refugees and all other inhabitants of Dresden. The gathering starts at 3 p.m. with a theatre workshop. The café will offer drinks, soup, board games and table tennis to turn yet unknown persons into friends. At 7 p.m. there are some special activities every week, such as talks, readings or concerts.

For the past 29 years the Festival of World Music has enchanted the audience. The unique style of this event arises from its transnational and transcultural combination of traditional and contemporary music. This time you will hear music from three different continents, including musicians from Papua, Tanzania and Cameroon.
