Friday, April 25th: Musical show at the University of Music

20 young singers present hits from „Les Miserables“, „Tanz der Vampire“, „Cabaret“ and “Fame” in a furious mixture of songs, dance and show supported by a big live band. Beginning: Friday, 7.30 p.m. Admission: 6 €/4 € (reduced). Location: Hochschule für Musik, Wettiner Platz/Schützengasse.

Saturday, April 26th: Open house day at the Porcelain Manufactory Meissen

The Meissen Porcelain Manufactory invites you to watch throwers, modellers, “repairers” and both underglaze and overglaze painters as they work to produce the unique craft. Children are able to try their little hands at modelling in the Whiteware Production Department and can enter a painting competition at the School of Drawing. Beginning: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission: free! How to get there: S-Bahn (suburban train) from Dresden to Meißen-Triebischtal stop, then follow the signposts (approx. five minutes walk)/ Bus from Meißen’s main railway station or the city centre (including the “City-Bus”) for Meißen-Triebischtal, bus stop right outside the Manufactory.

Saturday, April 26th: Imagine on Ice

The exceptional successful German (Chemnitz) Ice Skating Couple Aljona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy will perform in their last season together with further international world stars the show “Imagine on Ice”. Enjoy Figure Skating at the highest stage as well as musical highlights and awesome artistic. Beginning: Saturday, 2.30 / 8 p.m. Admission: from 15 € up. How to get there: Take the “Regionalbahn” from Dresden main station to Chemnitz main station. Than enter the Bus line 23 and leave at “Messe Chemnitz”, where the event takes place.

Sunday, April 27th: Offstage

Come to the Hygienemuseum and experience that modern dancers often don’t need a stage to perform and express their stories and personal intentions. Feel their movements inside the current exhibition “tanz!” (“dance”) and discover the fascinating museum! Beginning: Sunday, 3 p.m. Admission: 7€/3€ (reduced). How to get there: Lingnerplatz 1, Tram: Lines 10, 13 Stop “Großer Garten” / “Deutsches Hygiene-Museum”, Lines 1, 2, 4, 12 Stop “Deutsches Hygiene-Museum”.

Monday, April 28th: Ballet “The Winter’s Tale” live from the Royal Opera House London

Regularly the UFA Cinema Dresden screens international ballet and opera performances. On Monday you can see the Shakespeare based play “The Winter’s Tale”. The story is powerful and emotional. It deals with the destruction of marriage through consuming jealousy, the abandonment of a child, and a seemingly hopeless love. But maybe that’s not the end of the story… Beginning: 8.30 p.m., Admission: adults 26 €, Location: UFA Cinema Dresden, St. Petersburger Straße 24A, Tram: Line 3,7,8,9,11 Stop: Walpurgisstraße

Tuesday, April 29th: Folk-Pop from Aidan Knight

The young Canadian artist Aidan Knight performs with his band at Societätstheater on Tuesday. They will play songs from their second album “Small Reveals” and bring complex songs to you that still are full of lightness. Wednesday, April 30th: “Walpurgis Night”- Celebration at Albrechtsburg Meißen

On the last night of April we celebrate “Walpurgis Night”. At the castle Albrechtsburg in Meißen you can celebrate this evening very traditionally in the style of the Middle Age. There will be medieval travelling entertainers, craftsmen and grocers and you can listen to the famous Middle-Age-Rockband “Corvus Corax”. Additionally you will be entertained by fire shows and other spectacles. Beginning: 5 p.m., Admission: adults 9 €, children 5 €, Location: Schloss Albrechtsburg Meißen, Domplatz 1, Meißen, Train: Suburban Train Line 1 Stop: Meißen Altstadt (last train back to Dresden leaves at 11.30 p.m.).

Thursday, May 1st: Spring Festival for Families

As this day is a bank holiday in Germany, you can enjoy the day with friends and family and maybe visit the “Weinbergkirche”, where a spring festival is celebrated. Children and adults can among others enjoy puppet theatre, ride with horses and enjoy music from Russia and Romania. Beginning: 12 a.m., Admission: free, Location: Weinbergkirche Dresden Pillnitz, Bergweg 3, Bus: 63 Stop: Pillnitzer Platz
