Tips for the upcoming week

Dear internationals, this time the outgoing tips for the upcoming week are a little early due to an issue related congress in Zürich the Welcome Center is able to join. According to that we will be closed this Friday and back for you on Tuesday, right after the bank holiday on Monday.

Friday, June 06th : “Angoloscuro” – Modern Dance by The Forsythe Company

“Angoloscuro”, performed by the Forsythe Company leads the viewer into a microcosm of decay and the body’s darkly comic corruption. In a space dominated by the visceral utterances of the body’s innermost workings, a cohort of strangely morbid characters persistently and illogically creates a world of alternative aesthetics that draws the viewer toward a disturbing, nightmarish narrative. Sunday, June 7th/Sunday, June 8th: Medieval Festival at Castle Wesenstein

At the weekend Castle Wesenstein will turn back into a medieval place. You can come to see how the life of the knights and medieval folk has been. There will a lots of activities for young and old, such as a knights tournament, theater plays and concerts. You will also have the possibility to eat something typically medieval food or buy handicraft. Sunday, June 8th: Concert “The Four Seasons” by Vivaldi

“The Four Seasons” is one of the most known works of the European music history. Come and listen to this great piece of art in a nice atmosphere – in the “Marmorsaal” at the Dresden Zwinger. Monday, June 9th: Brel

Fascinated by the music of the French singer Jaques Brel, the choreographer Carlos Matos and his dance company create a wonderful atmosphere full of passion and joie de vivre. Tuesday, June 10th: “The Magic Flute“

The bassoon Duo ‘Satyre’ and the dramatist Andreas Walter organize on of the most famous operas in a magical way with only two bassoons and a suitcase full of prosperities. The 3 artists tell the whole love story in 60 minutes with an unique ease. Wednesday, June 11th: The Forsythe Company Angoloscuro

The modern dance company Forsynthe is working on stage in Hellerau. Even Gret Pallucca started her world famous dancing school at this stage, which is now named after her. The performance Angoloscuro creates a world of alternative aesthetics, against any logical rules but very powerful. Thursday, 12.06.2014: The Brian Jonestown Massacre
The band formed in the 1990s in San Fransico already had a lot of ups and downs in their history. The only steady member is singer and poly instrumentalist Anton Newcombe, even though his drug and alcohol abuse caused a lot of trouble within the band over the last years. But the distinctive sound spanned from folk rock, blues rock, psychedelic rock, shoegazing, over electronica to experimental rock.
