This is an invitation of our former student assistent Axel who just left TU Dresden to have an internship at the EU Parliament in Bruxelles. As he cannot get enough of you, he would like to invite you to his new town and show you around one weekend on a private base. Check it out!

“Dear friends of the Welcome Center,

As many of you know, recently I had my last day at TUD Welcome Center and I am heading now towards new challanges as I will be a trainee in the European Parliament in Bruxelles.  I enjoyed the collaboration with you a lot, it was great getting to know so many different cultures within only eight months. Even though you cannot meet me at the office, a Regulars’ Table or at some other event in Dresden anymore, I would like to invite you to get to know my new city. As the capital of Belgium and headquarter of many European institutions, Brussels has many stories to tell and beautiful sides to discover. Hopefully, in the next weeks I will get into all of that :D Therefore, I believe it would be a great idea to meet in Brussels for a weekend and discover the city together.

Interesting things to do could be:

  • a free walking tour in the old town
  • guided tour in the European Parliament and talk with a politician
  • visit the Atomium
  • visit the museum of surrealist Rene Magritte
  • get into belgium culinary: beer, fries, chocolate…
  • many other things…

I believe we could realize a trip in November/ December 2016. If you like the idea and would like to join the group just write an email to axel.barthel@gmx.de. I would wait till mid of September who would like to join us and create a facebook group for better communication. Then we can decide the date and check flights and hostel. One important point should not be forgotten: as  the tour is not in Germany there won’t be any funding from the TUD Welcome Center and you would have to cover all costs on your own. Nevertheless, the flights from Berlin Schönefeld can be very cheap and hostels are also not that expensive in Bruxelles. I would not calculate more than 150- 200 € for a very very very nice weekend trip.

I am looking forward to hearing from you. A bientot en doei!

Axel”
