German courses

General information

General information

The Welcome Center German Course program for winter and summer semesters is co-funded by the STIBET programme of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service), Santander Universities and Gesellschaft der Freunde und Förderer der TU Dresden (Association of Friends and Sponsors of TU Dresden e.V.).

It is therefore only open to PhD-students and PostDocs of TU Dresden and DRESDEN-concept partner institutions.

All classes from A1-B1 and B2/C1 "Konversation" and B2/C1 "Schreiben" classes will be offered in the following two main course periods from October - February and from March - July each year. In each course period you will be taught half a language level equivalent to around 60-70 hours of German lessons. This structure allows you to finish one language level within a year.

For those arriving in Dresden with no or very little German skills after the courses have begun we offer a "A0" class, where you can learn the very basic German necessary for your first weeks in Dresden. The A0 classes take place for 5 weeks only, presumably starting in January and August, and will be announced below once the registration is possible.

To not miss a registration deadline we recommend you to subscribe our newsletter, follow us on Facebook or take a look at this website regularly.
Please note that due to organizational reasons we can't accept any course registrations outside the registration period.
