Friday, 18 July: Noche de Flamenco

Migiwa Shimizu and her students of the Flamenco Dance School “El Patio” in Dresden and “Arrebato” in Leipzig present their skills this evening at Projekttheater Dresden. You will experience a journey through all different styles of Flamenco. The dancers will be accompanied by guitarists and singer Maria Mellado. Saturday, 19 July: Puppet Theatre “Rapunzel”

This is an event for the whole family!  The Puppet theatre in Dresden-Weißig is well-known for performing lively and lovely stories for children and adults. This afternoon you can see the play “Rapunzel”, which is a German fairytale offering everything that you expect from such a ficticious story: an evil witch, a beautiful princess and a prince, who rescues the princess. Saturday, 19 July: Umsonst & Draußen Festival Dresden

The name reflects the program: Right next to Alaunpark bands will be playing outside (draußen) and for free (umsonst). Come to enjoy the craft of some local musicians that play various kinds of music – e.g. the Brasil Acoustic Quintett or Pink Monkey Stuff.

Sunday, 20 July:  Movie “Boyhood” at Thalia (Original version in English language with German subtitles)

The original is better! Filmed over a 12-year period with the same cast, this film is a groundbreaking story of growing up as seen through the eyes of a child named Mason, who literally grows up on screen before our eyes. The film charts the rocky terrain of childhood like no other film has done before. The film is both a nostalgic time capsule of the recent past and an ode to growing up and parenting. Tuesday, 22 July: Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra

For 25 years the Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra has been well known and highly praised for their outstanding quality. In their home country, they are part of the yearly ‘National Festival of Music for Youth’ and they have already performed in the Royal Albert Hall in London. They have played various cities all over the world and tonight they are coming to Dresden with their ambitious repertoire.
