Two bands from the U.S. and France will make this evening extraordinary: Emperor X, a former science teacher, has been acclaimed by critics for his noise pop/speed-folk music since 2004. The British Plan B magazine calls his music “a swollen interfusion of capricious brilliance.” THIS IS THE KIT, French band project by singer/songwriter Kate Stables sways audiences with her mixture of folk, psycho-rock and blues. Rose Window from Seattle aresomething else. Lead singer Rabia Shaheen Qazi looks like she has just arrived from the 1960s. Wednesday, 30 July: Bai Ri Yan Huo – Black Cole, Thin Ice (Chinese film with German subtitles, German title: Feuerwerk am helllichten Tage)
Northern China, 1999: Human body parts are discovered in shipments of coal and Officer Zhang Zili has a lead to the murderer. However, at the arrest, a shooting leaves the officer badly injured and the suspects able to escape. Years later, after Zhang Zili has long quit his job, new evidence shows up and the mysterious chase starts again. ‘Bai Ri Yan Huo’ won the Golden and Silver Bears at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival ‘Berlinale’. Thursday, 31 July: ‘Allegro ma non troppo (or… if love is blind, why is it looking at us)’ by ‘Zero en Conducta’ at ‘Schaubudensommer’ festival
The performance by Spanish company ‘Zero en Conducta’ is part of the ‘Scheune Schaubudensommer’ festival. On the premises of the famed ‘Scheune’ arts center in the Outer Neustadt lots of exhibitors and artists will show their prowess from 31.07.2014 up until 10.08.2014. One of the openers is the show ‘Allegro ma non troppo (or… if love is blind, why is it looking at us)’, which explores the similarities and differences of lovers and the blind.
