Friday, May 16th: BREL- „Ce qui compte dans une vie, c’est l’intensité d’une vie,
ce n’est pas la durée d’une vie“

Different people meet in different stages of their life. They come together; they are taking care of and even hurt each other. Accompanied by the music of Jacques Brel, the dancers perform a charming and pleasing evening. Beginning: 7.30 p.m. Admission: 8€ up. Friday, May 16th/ Saturday, May 17th: LIA RODRIGUES PINDORAMA

Lia Rodrigues of Rio de Janeiro is today considered the most important choreographer in South America and a central figure in contemporary dance in Brazil. “Pindorama” was Brazil’s original name before Portuguese colonisation, the choreogaphie is inspired by Stravinsky’s “Sacre du printemps”. Saturday, May 17th: Brassbands in Concert

During the International Dixieland Festival here in Dresden, a lot of local as well as international renowned artists, bands and orchestras present their outstanding musical diversity. The Lamarotte Jazzband, Winkler Brass and Brass Band Rakonik perform together in one concert! Not least they will compete against each other in the finale of this concert. Saturday, May 17th: JazzGospelDixieland: The Spirit of New Orleans and ROY. Ombiono

Together with traditional Gospels, introduced by the German Choir “ROY.Ombiono”, the Danish musicians gathered around Preben Nissen will present an evening full with emotional spirituals and smooth Jazz classics. Monday, May 19th: Movie “Good Vibrations” at Thalia Cinema

The original is always better! The Thalia Cinema inside the Dresden Neustadt offers a wide range of movies presented in their original language. The movie “Good Vibrations” shows Terri Hooley, who is a radical, rebel and music-lover in 1970s Belfast when the bloody conflict known as The Troubles shuts down his city. As all his friends take sides and take up arms, Terri opens a record shop on the most bombed half-mile in Europe and calls it Good Vibrations. Tuesday, May 20th: Art exhibition “Between the Layers”

The Neustadt bar and restaurant “Altes Wettbüro“ frequently holds art exhibiton in their rooms. So while having a drink or a snack, you can enjoy some fresh art. This week you can see art which is inspired by Street Art and Graffiti. The exhibition shows stencils that deal with political issues or famous movies. Beginning: Monday 8 p.m., Admission: free. Wednesday, May 21st: Libretto “Requiemaszyna” by Warsaw Theater

At the theater of Dresden this week the first European “Bürgerbühnenfestival” takes place, which means that groups with amateur actors from all over Europe come to Dresden to show their plays. On Wednesday you can see and especially hear the Libretto “Requiemaszyna”, which is shown by the Warsaw Theater. This play deals with the human existence, which is ruled by cultural, societal, economical and religious norms. Thursday, May 22th: Piano Night at Jazzclub Tonne

At Jazzclub Tonne on Thursday students of the Musical Academy of Dresden show their talent in playing the piano. Come in, have a drink and enjoy different kinds of music, but all based on the piano.
