Thursday, 02 March: Write through the night (university offer)
We have all probably spent sleepless nights in order to submit that important paper/article in time, right? So why not use the opportunity while making an event about it? This is what the staff of the TU Dresden thought of when organizing of the Long Night of writing at the SLUB library. You are invited to work on your individual writing project, but together with other motivated writing people. Also you will get in touch with the university’s teams engaged with writing, the SLUB’s knowledge desk and other experts ready to give you writing advices. Workshops, a writing process walk, coffee, and a soup bar will be waiting for you. If you do not want to take part in the workshops, a registration is not needed, and you can still enjoy the creative atmosphere to write that important paper of yours along the night. Students, lecturers, graduate students and anyone who is interested in scientific writing is invited to this Long Night!

Friday, 03 March: Young masters of classical music (piano evening)
Friday will bring you the opportunity to enjoy the best of classical music at the center of the old town. This week, Hana Vlasáková from the Czech Republic will present us with her internationally recognised artistic work. Hana Vlasáková is the winner of numerous international competitions and is constantly rising in Europe enchanting people with her music. Sunday, 05 March: Otello at the Semperoper Dresden (opera)
You are invited to experience this William Shakespeare’s timeless story in one of the most beautiful spots in Dresden. The opera Otello is on in the Semperoper, not only this Sunday but also in other upcoming dates. Otello is a classical story about race, love, jealousy and betrayal from 1887. The opera will be singed in its original language, Italian, but will be accompanied by German and English subtitles. A classical opera that is definitely well appreciated in such a classic opera house. If not this weekend, look out for the upcoming dates and do not miss the opportunity of such an enriching experience.

Monday, 06 March: Rob Longstaff at Hellerau (concert)
Rob Longstaff was born in New Zealand but grew up in Australia. He is a native traveler, and a passionate artist. He has visited Indian and African orphanages and hospitals, ventured himself into the Antarctic continent, and traveled by bike, train and ship from Berlin via China to Australia. In his luggage, he has his guitar and his songs. He plays blues, and has been inspiring people all over the world. This Monday you have the opportunity to listen to his music im Hellerau.

Tuesday, 07 March: Shame 100 reasons to blush (exhibition)
Mainly for those among you that could not participate in the Welcome Center excursion to the Shame exhibition, this is a must for you. The feeling of shame is a well-known one to children and adults alike. Shame is quite unpleasant, which nevertheless, does not makes it worthy of closer analysis and understanding. As you will discover in this exposition, shame is much more than a mere subjective feeling, it is the glue of societies. In fact, the exposition highlights how shame is capable of defining the rules and values of a group. In a shameless time, the visitors will be amazed by this eye opening visual experience.

Wednesday, 08 March: Acoustic Jukebox 90’s Trash Smasher (music bar)
It is Wednesday night, but this tip will bring you back to the nineties. In the Bon Voyage bar in the Neustadt quarter you will have an amusing night along the night’s motto “90’s Trash Smasher”. As you might expect, they will be playing those well-known old hits, which you definitely know the lyrics of by heart and which make you feel like dancing every time you hear them. Interestingly, you will be surprised to experience the nineties rhythms in an acoustic format. The charming pianist Olga Reznichenko (Sophia & Olga) will be responsible for this unusual recreation of the pop hits. The result will be a night of well known, pleasing music. Definitely worth a check!
