The Christmas market season!
Around Christmas time, Dresden is full of fairy lights, decorations and Christmas markets.
If you walk through the city from the end of November until New Year’s Eve, Christmas markets will be waiting for you around every corner. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to give you some hot tips for the most beautiful Christmas markets and locations. Last week, we reccommended Dresdens biggest and most popular market the Striezelmarkt!

Today we want to share a very tiny and cute market: Neustädter Gelichter, where you can spend an evening listening to music, drinking Glühwein and rummaging through the sweet stands.

Tips for the weekend

Do you like sports? On Friday evening Dresden’s ice hockey team Dresdner Eislöwen are playing in the Enrgieerbund Arena. It will definitely be a fun and energetic event. Tickets are available here!

Do you like dancing? On Saturday, 10 pm the rustic and cosy pub Bautzner Tor is hosting a Christmas concert, right in the middle of Dresden Neustadt. The Band SEAU VOLANT will accompany you through the evening with amusing dance music. The entrance is free!

Also an annual highlight during the winter season: The Dresdner Kneipenchor will be singing in front of the St. Pauli ruin in Hechtviertel on Sunday 1:30 am. The atmosphere and the people there are always great, so come and sing along or just listen, it will be awesome!

Tips for the upcoming week

Have you walked through the Green Heart of Dresden yet? The Großer Garten Dresden is really wonderful, but you can get lost there – even now in winter. So if you are still looking for a jogging route, or a place where you can go for a walk with a date, or just for a winter evening walk, pay a visit to the Großer Garten and see what you’ll discover there.

Are you interested in planes? Throughout the month there are guided tours of Dresden Airport. The whole thing starts with punch, Glühwein and pastries and then you will be guided through the airport. Everything is decorated for Christmas and you can have a look behinde the scenes.

Do you want to know what Dresden looked like in the 18th century? Then maybe this event is for you: Dresden “Timeride” – an experience of a special kind. There you can experience Dresden’s history up close with the help of Virtual Reality.

Also, to really get into the Christmas spirit: Why not go and see the Nativity play in the wonderful Green Heart of Dresden. A really recommendable classic played by the Staatsschauspielhaus Dresden. Here you can buy tickets online. It is worth reserving some in advance, because the play is very popular. Also because of its atmospheric location – in a cosy old villa in the middle of the garden.

Enjoy the winter Christmas season!
