What’s On In Dresden? (Photo: M. Hultsch)

First of all: We would like to wish you all a Happy and Cheerful New Chinese Year!

Tips for the weekend

Do you like flea markets? Then this weekend is just right for you! On the one hand there is, on Sunday an indoor flea market, where you can find new-old table, or just some Schnick-Schnack, you should definitely go there. Directly at the train station Neustadt, there are two huge halls, full of flea market stuff!

On the other hand, there is also an antique flea market in the Neustädter Markt – mall. So, if you can’t do it on Sunday, just go here on Saturday (it is the entire weekend)! The hall is very nice, there was once the big municipal weekly market in it. The building has been renovated and restored, so it is definitely worth a visit. Even without cash in your pocket!

For the sports fans: Sunday night are the Super Bowl finals! It will be broadcasted in the UFA – Crystal Palace – Cinema. It starts at 8 pm with a champagne and food reception, the game starts between 9 and 10 pm until 4:30 pm.

Tips for the upcoming week

Have you heard of the Deutsches-Hygiene-Museum? At the moment there are two great exhibitions: The exhibition about the subject of human and body (very worth seeing) and, what we would like to draw your attention to today: The children’s museum: World of the Senses. In the World of Senses, numerous newly developed experimental stations and games await children between the ages of 5 and 12.
The children’s museum is accessible without barriers, and the mirror labyrinth can finally be explored in a wheelchair. The most important information is provided in three different media: as text for reading in German, English and Czech, via headphones for listening and as video for watching in German sign language. Go there!
Not only for kids a pleasure! (And I’m sure you’ll get in without kids, and feel like kids when you get out!)

Always well deserving of a recommendation: We would like to introduce you to the language tables in the hostel Mondpalast in Louisenstraße in Dresden Neustadt. Every Thursday there will be language tables where people meet, eat and chat together, and practice foreign languages! So if you would like to learn a new language or deepen your knowledge, or maybe you would like to teach other people something about your languages – or if you just want to get together with people: You are warmly invited.

Do you want to get to know Dresden old Altstadt? There are guided tours through the old dungeons, with acting dungeon masters! Here you can book tickets for guided tours. But you can also just pass the old dungeons, there are usually also showmen who sell tickets directly! You can find them at the Dresden Neumarkt at the Martin Luther memorial.

Also: Be absolutely sure to check out our next trips! You will find them on the right side of the homepage! For exampel our History tour to Pirna for PhDs and PostDocs at 1stof February!
