Friday, 9 August: A pantomimic summernight at Societaetstheater Dresden

“The classic on the garden stage – with new episodes once again! Wordless, funny!

Bodecker & Neander, the two internationally acclaimed pantomimes from Berlin, arrive again with a basket full of theatre delicacies. They invite the audience to enjoy a magical summer evening together in the beautiful Theatergarten. But again and again something comes in between…
Served in silence: pointed humour, fine comedy, optical illusions, romantic time travel, surreal, contemporary, magic and, well, quiet music.

An excursion for the mind, without any language barriers.” [Text translated from: https://www.facebook.com/events/681598425632686/]

Sunday, 11 August: Golden Dawn Orchestra at Palaissommer

“The Golden Dawn Arkestra already enjoys cult status: An artist collective of up to 20 musicians from Austin, Texas, in the tradition of Sun Ra and Sly Stone celebrates intergalactic disco funk, afrobeat and rock’n’roll and looks like a circus troupe from Mars, delivering an extremely danceable Alejandro Jodorowsky soundtrack.

Golden Dawn Arkestra experiments with various genres, from psych, soul and rock to disco and funk. Besides percussions, trumpets and trombones, the Arkresta also has bass clarinets and a vibraphone. This is how they create their unique sound, which sounds like Latin America, with a detour to Berlin and New York. Golden Dawn Arkestra exist on stage as a wild travel group that fills entire train compartments or buses. While about half of them take care of the versatile music, the others are primarily active as performers. Dance, ecstasy, party and a little musical journey around the world. For their current album “Children Of The Sun” the Golden Dawn Arkestra worked together with Erik Wofford (The Black Angels, Explosions in the Sky, My Morning Jacket), who perfectly complements the sound of the band with his preference for spacey echoes and reverb.” [Text translated from: https://palaissommer.de/programm/goldendawnarkestra/]

Thursday, 15 August: Pianonight at Palaissommer

“Ludovico Einaudi and Yann Tiersen inspired millions with their film music for Intouchables and Amélie and are now at home in the great arenas of the world. Their music invites you to dream away and is characterized by depth, sensitivity and intimate closeness – music from heart to heart.
Matthias Zeller (piano) and Daniel Schmahl (Trp/Flügelhorn) – the two soloists of the evening are predestined to interpret this new kind of music and to give it magic and depth through their classical studies and their successes at big festivals. They also know how to tell one or the other story about the background of the compositions and take the listener with them to the Einaudis study or to the Ile de Ouessant, where Yann Tiersen is at home.

Travel on the sounds of the evening to your own dreams and enjoy the chance to get so close to your favourite music in intimate sound garb.
Experience a moving concert and treat yourself to a feast for the senses!” [Text translated from: https://palaissommer.de/programm/amelie-musik-zum-traeumen/]
